Meet the Maker

Hi I'm Sam. I grew up in Limerick in the 90s in a household that was very much all about doing for yourself and fixing instead of replacing. This instilled in me a core mindset of finding out how things work and a desire to constantly try to fix and improve problems. More than that though is a strong belief that we are capable of doing anything with our own hands.

It was in secondary school like most people growing up in Ireland that i got to experience woodwork and technical graphics and I just loved it. There's something about the tactile feel of wood, the sensation and sound of a sharp tool doing what it's been created to do and the joy of changing it to become what you've envisaged it's all borderline addictive and all throughout school I was hooked.

I have since rekindled my passion for woodworking.  I'm self-taught the traditional way of trying, failing, researching and trying again. I believe every mistake or problem is designed to help us you just have to find out what it's trying to tell you.

Looking around I see an awful lot of plastic and or mass produced items made with low price/low quality materials but at a very hefty price. The name of the game seems to be to buy and replace in a few short years when the product gets damaged or broken.

My goal is to create products that are handmade with care, made with natural materials, made to last and can take wear (be mendable)  and tear and build connections and joy to people’s lives.  I love that I get to constantly build new connections with all sorts of people and find a way to fix a problem or need they have, and if I can spread a bit of joy along the way than that’s all to the better.
